For a premium Swiss dental and medical care group, we developed a hands-free U-shaped oral cleaning robot designed for elderly users, children, and people with limited manual dexterity. The project required medical-grade materials, advanced motion engineering, curved-surface tufting, and institutional market readiness.

Most U-shaped toothbrushes only vibrate horizontally, which limits plaque removal and may feel uncomfortable for gums. The client required a vertical reciprocating kneading motion that follows interdental spaces and cleans multiple tooth surfaces at once. Another major challenge was planting high-density bristles onto a deeply curved 3D flexible silicone mouthpiece while meeting medical-grade compliance requirements.

We co-developed a micro multi-link reciprocating transmission system to drive the U-shaped mouthpiece with controlled vertical movement. Our team also created a multi-axis CNC curved-surface tufting process that allows soft bristles with different lengths and angles to be planted directly onto the silicone structure. Production systems were upgraded to support medical-grade manufacturing and compliance audits.

Project Results

The project successfully commercialized a medical-grade hands-free oral robot and entered 80+ rehab centers through pediatric and accessibility-related channels. It also opened a high-end consumer segment for luxury hands-free brushing and led to follow-up development of additional kids robotic mouthpiece models.
